Summary: Paula Aquilla, BSc, presents on environmental and physiological factors that influence the life of children with SPD. Learn how to identify the unique sensory needs of children and create environments that meet those needs. This includes learning how to choose appropriate activities to support the organization of the nervous system in children with SPD. She also discusses practical strategies to foster relationships at home and in school. Presented at the 16th International 3S Symposium.

Presenter: Paula Aquilla, BSc, is an occupational therapist and osteopathic manual practitioner in Toronto, Canada. She is the mom of two girls has been practicing for 27 years. Paula is the founding director of Yes I Can! Nursery School, the I Love My Baby program and Yes I Can! Summer Camps and the Giant Steps Program in Toronto. Paula consults to the Muki Baum Association, which serves children and adults with dual diagnosis and she runs a private practice in Toronto. She is a co-author of Building Bridges Through Sensory Integration and has contributed articles to many publications in Canada, USA and the UK. She teaches throughout North America, the UK, India and Australia. Paula is also an osteopathic manual practitioner.
