Summary: Feeding expert Kay Toomey, PhD, Psychologist and Director of feeding program presents this All STAR Lecture discussing how Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hannukah, and holiday parties are ripe for challenges and problems for the child with feeding difficulties. Dr. Toomey offers suggestions on what to say to family members, how to avoid embarrassing situations and getting through these special times smoothly.

Presenter: Kay Toomey, PhD, is a pediatric psychologist who has worked for nearly 30 years, with children who don’t eat. She is the developer of the highly effective, family-centered SOS Approach to Feeding in successful use worldwide to assess and treat children with feeding problems. In addition to directing SOS Feeding Solutions at STAR Institute, Dr. Toomey speaks nationally and internationally about her approach.

- Identify the difference between picky eaters and problem feeders
- Describe why holidays are difficult for picky eaters
- Implement strategies for holiday travel and eating during family gatherings
Continuing Education: This course is offered for .1 ASHA CEUs (Introductory Level, Professional content area). This course will delineate special concepts and treatment variations for specific feeding problems.
